Reva Urban (eventually known simply as “Reva”) was an American woman artist who achieved success in the art world in the 1950s and 1960s. Her career offers important insights into the relationship of gender to art production, form, and content. Reva Urban spent her youth in California . In 1941 she returned to New York and studied with a Carnegie Fellowship at the Art Students League of New York .
In 1949 she married the German painter Albert Urban (1909-1959), after his death she married George Robert Carley (1913-1993). From 1958 she exhibited her works nationally and internationally.
