A beautiful pair of dowry or marriage chests that probably date to the Mughal period in India. They feature wonderful carving and portraits. I’m not sure what they are painted on. One of the glass covers is broken and the others are dirty. There are splits to the wood and numerous losses to the wood. But these are quite old. At least early 19th century possibly 18th century. It’s unusual to find a matched pair. Please contact me if you have any further questions through the message system. These were used as end tables and will serve as end tables as well.
