A really wonderful craved stone rams head, porbably dating to the 18th or 19th century. I must stress, however that that is as late as it is and could be much earlier. We showed it to a few experts and just from photos they dated it to this period but stressed that it should be tested as it might be earlier. For accuracy we have listed it as 18th/19th century. It features a receptacle on the head that probably housed an amulet or object of importance. The estate that this piece came out of was filled with an eclectic mix of modern and antiquities. The base has been re-lacquered and is beautiful. The ram’s head is probably from the near east somewhere along oil is prevalent today, or possibly even Southeast Asian. A really wonderful item for display. The stone head itself measures 8.875 inches in height 12 inches deep and 9 inches wide. The overall measurements on the stand are 12.5 inches in height and the base is 12 x14 inches in dimension.
